chesco contact conference 2022

Agile manufacturing, innovative product development, cutting-edge research infrastructure, climate-friendly mobility - review of our chesco contact conference.

Lectures, workshops, networking - two exciting days of chesco contact conference in Startblock B2 are over. The conference offered space for exchange and mutual acquaintance between companies, partner institutions and the Center for Hybrid Electric Systems chesco at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. The focus of the conference was to present the concept of the research center chesco and the transfer project taf (Transfer of Agile Manufacturing Methods) for interested companies and partners and to show possibilities of cooperation.

At the start of the conference, the Vice President of the BTU, Prof. Dr. Michael Hübner, introduced the chesco research center within the Lausitz Science Park. This will be of great importance for change in Lusatia and will offer companies in the region a concentrated contact point for innovation and cooperation in Cottbus.

Technical introduction and opportunities for transfer and further training

The conference focused on "innovative manufacturing methods". At the beginning of the conference, overall project coordinator Dr. Jane Worlitz presented the project taf (Transfer of Agile Manufacturing Methods), which aims to transfer innovative manufacturing methods to regional companies. To this end, a transfer and training concept tailored to the needs of regional companies is being developed during the start-up phase of the chesco research center. The foundation for this cooperation was laid during the contact conference through work in workshops.

The participants received technical input from experts in the fields of hybrid manufacturing, factory planning and operation, as well as quality management. In subsequent workshops, small groups were able to discuss concrete problems from the respective companies or research institutions. Initial needs for the transfer and further training concept in the areas of manufacturing, planning and agile working were identified. For example, there are companies that are looking for suitable manufacturing methods for their components or see training needs in the areas of digital planning, process optimization and agile working. For these problem areas, the taf project at the chesco research center provides the point of contact. It is planned to hold the first workshops as part of the further training concept in the coming year.

Networking with the research center chesco for cooperations

In addition to the technical presentations and workshops, the participants gained insights into the concept of chesco and the technical equipment of the research factory. Project managers Prof. Dr.-Ing. Georg Möhlenkamp and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Höschler reported on the current status of research activities and on innovations such as the founding of chesco GmbH. In the future, it will be possible to collaborate with companies on research projects through this company.

For an overview of financial support for research projects, the Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg, represented by Jens Lewerenz and Heinrich Weißhaupt, presented support options for companies in the region. Of particular interest to Lusatia in this regard is the JTF (Just-Transition-Funds) program, which supports companies that are particularly hard hit by the transition to climate neutrality.

An important part of the conference was the networking of the participating companies and institutions. In two pitch rounds, both the co-organizing organizations IHK Cottbus and Economic Development Agency Brandenburg  (WFBB) as well as partner institutions such as the DLR Institute for Electrified Aero Engines were able to introduce themselves and the participating companies were able to present their profiles, thus encouraging an exchange among each other. We would like to thank all participants and partner organizations for the successful realization of the conference.
