What is the outcome of the workshop?

At the end of this workshop, you will have given an old textile or item of clothing a new design or even a new function.

How does the workshop work?

  • Getting to know the participants
  • Viewing the materials
  • Hints, tips and tricks for implementation, depending on the project
  • Sewing the individual pieces together

Who is this workshop suitable for?

This workshop is not suitable for beginners, some basic knowledge of the sewing machine or basic needlework skills are required. Anyone who is familiar with the embroidery machine, upholstery machine or Overlook is welcome to use our machinery independently. Children may only participate if accompanied by an adult. We ask families to register together for a place.

What do I need to bring?

  • Sewing machine (if you don't have one, please let us know in good time by email (colab(at)b-tu.de), we have two sewing machines available on site) suitable thread, spare needles
  • needlework tools (scissors, pins etc.)
  • Textiles or items of clothing that need an upgrade

And depending on how you want to design your pieces:

  • Decorative and pretty items (beads and ribbons to sew on, iron on or embroider), depending on your taste
  • Fabric paints, possibly stamps

Note: For personal health reasons, no upcycling projects involving the use of harsh chemicals such as bleach will be implemented.

Will the workshop cost me anything?

The workshop costs €10 per person. It is possible to deregister from the workshop up to one week in advance without incurring any costs.

How can I register?

The number of participants is limited to 8 people. Please make a binding registration here. If you change your mind, please deregister via the same page at least one week in advance. In this way, interested people from the waiting list can still take part and the limited places will not remain unfilled.

  • There will be no food and drinks provided on site.
  • The workshop will be held bilingually: German and English.
