In this model, a Bachelor's degree is combined with many practical phases at the "learning location company". While regular students only complete an internship or similar in a company at times, dual students are always alternating between the "BTU learning location" and the "company learning location".

As shown in the following diagram, the dual students attend the regular courses together with the regular students during the semesters. Strongly practice-oriented study modules are shifted from the "learning location BTU" to the "learning location company" and completed by the students in the company during the lecture-free period.

In order to participate in the practice-integrating dual study programme, at least 4 modules in the form of practical phases (the exact designation varies depending on the study programme) must be completed at the company as a place of learning. These five modules have been developed so openly that most companies (even the smaller ones) are able to cover them.

You also have the option of increasing the degree of duality (i.e. the number of study modules at the "learning location company"). For this purpose, we have compiled a catalogue of modules that can (but do not have to) be carried out at your company. For each of these freely selectable modules, we have described the prerequisites, learning objectives, concrete tasks and activities.

⇒ Study + vocational training

In this model, a vocational training course recognised by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce or the Chamber of Crafts and Trades is also completed during the course of the Bachelor's degree programme. In addition to the two learning locations BTU and company, the third learning location vocational school is added in the training-integrated model. The study duration is therefore 4.5 years, whereby the stay at the respective learning locations is as follows:

Vocational school

In the 1st year, before the start of studies, the dual student starts vocational training. Within this framework, the dual students attend classes according to the framework curriculum of the chosen training occupation.  After the 1st year of training, the dual students begin their studies full-time and continue their practical training in the company during the lecture-free periods. Compulsory vocational school attendance is waived from the start of the degree programme.
