Successful Completion and Evaluation of the DFG Project on Robust Integrated Operational Planning in Public Transport

As part of the recently and successfully evaluated DFG project“Robust Integrated Vehicle and Duty Scheduling in Public Transport”, new methods were developed to improve the robustness and integration of operational planning processes in public transport.

A key focus was on the specific challenges posed by electric bus operations, such as limited range and charging requirements. By combining mathematical optimization techniques with data-driven travel time prediction, the project enabled realistic and robust planning approaches.

The developed models and software prototypes were successfully tested in close collaboration with industry partners and offer innovative strategies for resilient and sustainable public transport planning.
