BTU Scientific Advisory Board takes up its work

For the first time, a top-class advisory board advises the university management. The Scientific Advisory Board will critically accompany and advise the university on strategic issues concerning the further profiling in research, teaching and transfer and make recommendations for future development.

For the first time in the history of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, the university is giving itself its own advisory body with a top-class membership. BTU President Prof. Gesine Grande had pursued this idea since the beginning of her term in office. The university has succeeded in recruiting leading personalities from the science system and from industry as members of the Scientific Advisory Board.

The Scientific Advisory Board will provide the university with critical support and advice on strategic issues relating to further raising its profile in research, teaching and transfer, and will make recommendations for future development. The board, which held its first constituent meeting at BTU on Friday, December 17, 2021, includes:

Prof. Dr. Roland Eils, Founding Director of the Center for Digital Health of the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) at Charité Anne Francken, Commercial Director & Labor Director BASF Prof. Dr. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Kleiner, President of the Leibniz Association Prof. Dr. -Ing. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, President of Dresden International University Prof.Dr. Ulrich Panne, President of the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Prof. Dr. Michael Stumvoll, Dean of the Medical Faculty of the University of Leipzig as well as Steffen Weber, Head of the Department of Science and Research, as permanent guestandrepresentative of the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg.

BTU President Prof. Gesine Grande is convinced that the Scientific Advisory Board, with its diverse and outstanding expertise, is a great asset to the work of the Executive Board. "We are truly grateful that the appointed members are willing to commit themselves to our university on the Scientific Advisory Board. With their ideas, reflections and critical expertise, they will support us in becoming one of the most dynamic science locations in Germany. External expertise is extremely important for us at such a complex stage of development in order to develop and successfully implement a sustainable strategy for the future."
