Ceremonial launch for Lusatia Science Park with Minister President Dr. Dietmar Woidke and Science Minister Dr. Manja Schüle

Under the leadership of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), an innovation landscape with international appeal is to be created in Cottbus over the next few years: the Lusatia Science Park: Live broadcast on Monday, March 7, 2022, starting at 10 a.m.

Strong partners support the BTU in its project: the cities of Cottbus and Senftenberg, non-university scientific institutions such as the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the German Aerospace Center and the Leibniz Association, as well as economically strong companies, including Deutsche Bahn, BASF Schwarzheide and LEAG. Together, they and other supporters will sign a declaration of intent for the development and support of the new technology park during a ceremony at the BTU on Monday, March 7, 2022, and present it to Minister President Dr. Dietmar Woidke.

The BTU has put together a high-quality program of events for the idealistic laying of the foundation stone of the Lusatia Science Park: After the signing and symbolic handover of the declaration of intent by BTU President Prof. Dr. Gesine Grande to the Minister President, the scientific part will follow. In a "Science and Economy Pitch", the four profile lines of the Lusatian Science Park will be presented by a tandem of scientists - each consisting of a BTU and a partner institution. Afterwards, Brandenburg's Minister of Science, Dr. Manja Schüle, will outline the significance of the Lusatia Science Park for Brandenburg's scientific landscape. The event will conclude with a science talk on the topic "Developing the future: Lausitz Science Park" with Dr. Manja Schüle, Prof. Dr. Michael Hübner (Vice President for Research and Transfer at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg), Dr. Klaus Freytag (Representative of the Minister President of Brandenburg for Lausitz), Dr. Jörg Au (Managing Director of Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co.KG) and Prof. Dr. Harald Schenk (Managing Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS).

The event will be broadcast online. Start is at 10 a.m.: Livestream
