Virtual panel discussion: Together for business succession

Organizational consultant Ms. Sonja Maier joins us to discuss the topic "Collegial, participative and sociocratic - successfully involving employees in the succession process".

"Just as in a mobilé all the elements start to move when one element of the system changes, gets into disarray, shifts or becomes more weighty, it seems to be true for organizations and their members. A gust of wind from outside, a change of course, readjustment - and everything goes into disarray. What does it take then to be able to continue working in peace again? What does "respect for the system" mean when it comes to generational change?" says speaker Sonja Maier. She introduces the organizational form "sociocracy" and discusses the advantages for the entrepreneurs and their employees when it comes to company succession.

"Our mission is to inform and raise awareness among students and interested parties about business succession." Says project manager Stefanie Schiemenz of the "Lausitzer NachfolgeBus" of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg "The speaker Sonja Maier will give inspiring examples and insights into this topic. The topic of company succession should be anchored in the minds of students, so that they can imagine a takeover later in their professional lives. After the event, I'm still looking forward to a discussion with the students and the speaker."

Succession at the BTU

Company succession is addressed for students in teaching through seminars and theses at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and made tangible through practical examples. Company succession is an opportunity for students to apply for a position as an innovation specialist in a company at an early stage, with the option of succession later on. The BTU helps to identify company succession as a career path and gives students the opportunity to get to know companies with a need for succession.

The focus of the "Lausitzer NachfolgeBus" project is a bus that will travel through Lusatia until December 2023 and draw attention to corporate succession as a career path with its design. In practical use, the bus also brings interested parties and companies together, always with the aim of initiating succession discussions.
