Cottbus Open on June 19, 2022 with international students from BTU

As part of the Cottbus City Festival, the Cottbus Open Intercultural Festival will take place on Sunday, June 19, at 12 p.m. in Puschkinpark. BTU President Prof. Gesine Grande will open the festival together with Stefan Korb, Head of the Department for Economy, Digitalization and Structural Development of the City of Cottbus.

Cottbus Open is one of the most popular intercultural festivals and becomes a highlight of the Cottbus city festival every summer. Many citizens of the city and the region take part. It sets a sign for tolerance, acceptance as well as for an open, respectful and appreciative coexistence. The colorful festival is characterized by lively encounters of the most diverse people, regardless of their origin. Musical impressions and smells of exotic food from all over the world enrich the friendly, cosmopolitan atmosphere. Students, scientists from the BTU, and numerous associations and initiatives from the city of Cottbus will participate in the program.

Prof. Gesine Grande, President of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, is looking forward to being there live on Sunday: "I have already heard a lot about the exceptionally good atmosphere that makes this festival a highlight of the city festival. It's wonderful that our students make the festival so attractive with cultural aspects and dishes from their homeland, and that many Cottbus residents take advantage of this offer. As an international university, we thrive on cultural diversity and greatly appreciate the enrichment provided by other cultures and traditions."

This year, visitors can once again look forward to a colorful program featuring some 100 international contributors. The non-stop stage program of the international students of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg awaits with Bollywood dance, Iranian sounds and African moves. Culinary delights from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Hong Kong, Iran, Nigeria, China and Cameroon can be sampled in the "Cottbus InterNETional" food mile.

Christoph Nickusch and Wie-Hsin Tsao (Taiwan) will lead through the program. Also present are the German-Polish dance encounter of Marikas Kindertanzakademie and Maki (Zielona Gora), the association of the Vietnamese in Cottbus and surrounding area e. V., the association Chile für die Welt e. V. as well as SATYA, the Jazz Dance Club Cottbus 99 e.V, Cottbus Jugglers - circus art from the SuperHeldenClub of the Humaju and Paitheck Elms - rapper, singer, songwriter, producer from the SuperHeldenClub of the Humaju. In addition, "Voice of Peace" - literary texts by Lara Koch and Tamina Hägler, Monica Ooro. A drumming workshop for and with children and young people and acoustic pop music and graffity art with Nick complete the program.

The festival is organized by the city of Cottbus in cooperation with the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg and associations and organizations located in the city. The festival is financially supported by Sparkasse Spree-Neiße, LEAG, LWG and many other sponsors.
