Faculty 3: Award for the best bachelor thesis 2021
A future at BASF SCHWARZHEIDE GMBH is inconceivable without the joining process of welding. Therefore, the efficient and innovative design of work processes has a high priority within the company. Within the scope of this work, special attention was paid to the optimization of the feasibility check of welding work. For this purpose, an Excel tool and a profitability analysis have been created.
The Excel tool provides the user with an overview of all current welding procedure qualifications of BASF SCHWARZHEIDE GMBH. Depending on the application, a specific welding procedure qualification can be selected by means of a filter. The user gets a rough overview of the most important scopes of these VP. The scope diagrams illustrate the qualified range of thickness and pipe outer diameter. In the future, newly created procedure qualification tests can be easily inserted into the table by means of the incorporated formulas. The profitability analysis of welding work to be carried out in the future was prepared with the aid of a utility value analysis. In the process, BASF itself and two external service providers each were assessed by means of a point evaluation from "1" to "10". BASF SCHWARZHEIDE GMBH is the best choice due to its quick readiness to work.
The external service providers offer a good alternative thanks to existing process audits. In the future concrete case it has to be examined again whether BASF itself creates a new procedure qualification or whether it commissions an external service provider. The cost-effectiveness analysis forms an evaluation or decision-making basis for this. These methods are used for more efficient work and work planning within the maintenance department of BASF SCHWARZHEIDE GMBH.
