Business meets science - cross-border focus on the potential of rail transport

"Green Mobility - Rail Transport in the Structural Transformation of Lusatia" - this current topic is the title of a joint conference of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) and the Department of Engineering Sciences of the Dresden University of Technology (TUD) in Cottbus on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in STARTBLOCK B2 at the BTU's central campus in Cottbus, the program offers interesting presentations and discussions on the topic of rail transport. The main focus will be on the major economic and social challenges of structural change in Lusatia.

In addition to the Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Planning of the State of Brandenburg, Guido Beermann, other high-ranking representatives from politics, business and science have confirmed their participation. Interested parties are invited to this event and can still register.

With this 2nd Lusatian network event the conference series "Economy meets Science" finds its continuation. It began last November in Dresden with the overarching theme of the Circular Economy and is now dedicated to rail transport in Cottbus. Efficient mobility concepts are a very important basis for a Circular Economy. This applies to both passenger and freight transport. For a successful location policy, capacities and quality must be developed in equal measure. In this context, it is important to combine the advantages of rail transport with those of road transport.

Date: Wednesday, November 2, 2022, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Location: STARTBLOCK B2 at the central campus of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg Siemens-Halske-Ring 2, 03046 Cottbus, Yellow Room

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Beckmann, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the TU Dresden and Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Michael Hübner, full-time vice president for research and transfer at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, are the scientific directors of the conference and state:

"The TU Dresden and the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, together with the scientific institutions of both federal states, see themselves as network players for Lusatia. In the spirit of joint cooperation, numerous partners from Saxony and Brandenburg were involved in the preparation. With the continuation of the conference series "Economy meets Science" we want to further support the network formation for structural development. Many projects are currently under consideration, conception or have already begun. The exchange on this is important for pooling resources and learning from experience."
