Love, loss and return - The Grünebaum Family and Cottbus

The Grünebaum Family and Cottbus | Book presentation and talk with Peter Gumbel at Dieselkraftwerk - Admission is free.

On Sunday, November 6, 2022, 3:00 p.m., a book launch and talk with Peter Gumbel, great-grandson of Max Grünebaum, will take place at the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art (BLMK) as part of the 25th anniversary weekend of the Max Grünebaum Foundation. The venue is the Dieselkraftwerk. Admission is free.

On the occasion of his book "Citizens of Everywhere" (2020), Peter Gumbel will speak on the topic of identity and belonging, history, memory and the healing nature of the passage of time. He addresses the long history of his family in the city of Cottbus beginning in 1870, the tragic events of the 1930s, and the long and difficult process of reconciliation that led to the establishment of the Max Grünebaum Foundation 25 years ago.

Museum director Ulrike Kremeier will open the event with greetings. Artists from the Staatstheater Cottbus will make a musical contribution. Afterwards there will be a reception with tea and scones.

The event is a cooperation between the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art (BLMK), the Staatstheater Cottbus and the Max Grünebaum Foundation.
