Exciting insights into research on human aging processes
The GRS Cluster REGproAgE conducts research on aging processes in humans. The focus is on work with cell culture systems as well as bioinformatics issues.
The meeting was also an ideal platform to interact with the newly appointed professors Julia von Maltzahn and Manuela Rossol as well as with Professor Alexander Schliep of the Faculty of Health Sciences Brandenburg. In the morning, the audience was able to get an exciting glimpse into their research on muscle stem cells in aging and disease, calcium and calciprotein particle induced activation and differentiation of monocytes in rheumatoid arthritis, and statistical machine learning for gene expression time series.
The four GRS fellows of the REGproAgE cluster and another four PhD students of the Institute of Biotechnology presented their results in the form of posters, which were discussed with the attending expert audience in a scientific debate.
Fortunately, the newly appointed Professors not only participated with their excellent presentations, but also formed the jury for the evaluation of the best poster. In addition to the clarity of the presentation and significance of the topic, the art of answering questions was also evaluated.
The winner was GRS fellow Annemarie Ecke with her poster "Cartilage regeneration using a co-culture model of human primary chondrocytes and osteoblasts". Ms. Ecke studied biotechnology (Bachelor and Master) in Senftenberg and started her dissertation in the laboratory of Prof. Ursula Anderer in 2020. She is expected to complete her work in the course of 2023.
