Working together for the future: BTU and Fürst Pückler Foundation cooperate
On the occasion of the signing of the cooperation agreement on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Prof. Dr. Gesine Grande, President of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, said: "I am delighted about the continuation of our already close partnership, which we have been maintaining for many years. The Branitz park landscape, the collections and the listed buildings offer important fields of application, especially for our students and young academics." There are many points of contact, with outstanding topics and disciplines including the History of Art and Architecture, Energy and Climate, Environmental Sciences and Sustainability. "This cooperation agreement forms a good basis for intensifying joint projects in our profile lines 'Global Change and Transformation Processes' and 'Energy Transition and Decarbonization'," emphasized Prof. Grande. In future, they also want to initiate and implement joint research projects.
Dr. Stefan Körner, Chairman of the Fürst Pückler Museum Park and Castle Branitz Foundationsaid: "Innovation, research and a drive for the future are part of Branitz's centuries-old DNA. We are therefore grateful to benefit from the scientific expertise of the BTU, for example in research and future topics such as the Branitz University of Architecture as a model project for coping with the consequences of climate change in historic gardens, water management in the park and the digitization of the collections."
The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the Fürst Pückler Foundation Branitz are centers of science, research and culture in the state of Brandenburg that create a sense of identity and are of outstanding importance for the structural change in Lusatia and for the city of Cottbus. The international significance of Branitz and the internationality of the BTU's students are also unifying elements and should be further strengthened mutually. The cooperation is visible in joint events, for example, the foundation is involved in the "Knowledge for All" guest student program and is now a permanent partner of the BTU's Centre for Continuing Education.
For 2024, there are joint projects for clay construction in historic gardens and for artistic-architectural planning for a gatehouse in the New Branitz University of Architecture, which can serve as a neighborhood meeting place.
