Lightweight construction - a game changer for structural change in Lusatia

The Cottbus lightweight construction workshop will enter its 18th round on March 14 and 15, 2024: Under the motto "Lightweight construction - a game changer for structural change in Lusatia", the event will present innovative approaches in lightweight construction at the Startblock B2 start-up center in Cottbus.

In conjunction with the SpreeTec neXt structural change project at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, the workshop will provide information on current material and production trends in science and industry. in science and industry.

Representatives from science, industry and politics are invited. With the aim of exchanging expertise and presenting innovative developments in the field of lightweight construction, the event continues a proven tradition. The 18th Cottbus Lightweight Construction Workshop will take place from 14 to 15 March 2024 at the Startblock B2 start-up center, Siemens-Halske-Ring 2, 03046 Cottbus.

The lightweight construction workshop begins on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 3 p.m. with guided tours of the research laboratories and inspiring keynote speeches. Afterwards, the evening get-together with snacks offers an ideal opportunity for networking.

On Friday, March 15, 2024, from 8 a.m., participants can look forward to a varied program starting with a practical showcase in Lusatian companies. This will be followed by in-depth technical presentations on decentralized hydrogen applications, additive manufacturing and automation and digitalization strategies. There will also be presentations on recycling, sustainability, circular economy, life-cycle assessment and funding opportunities for companies. The day will be rounded off with a panel discussion on "New materials, manufacturing technologies and construction methods for decentralized energy technology".

"The workshop emphasizes the interaction of scientific and economic players as a driving force for structural change in Lusatia," says Prof. Holger Seidlitz, project manager of the SpreeTec neXt project. "With this event, we want to provide an impetus for the Transfer of Knowledge and Technology between research and industry. The event framework offers an excellent opportunity to exchange expertise and expand the network."

The Lusatia economic region (WRL) has been secured as a cooperation partner for the event. Manager Heiko Jahn says: "Lightweight construction research is crucial for structural change in Lusatia, as it funds sustainable innovations, creates jobs and showcases internationally how much drive there is in Lusatia. The region has already established itself as a pioneer in this innovative technology, which is crucial for future-oriented development given the growing importance of energy and resource efficiency. This not only strengthens the local economy, but also positions Lusatia nationally and internationally as a major player in the field of sustainable lightweight construction technologies."
