Officer: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Lothar Knopp, BTU, Manager of the Center for Legal and Administrative Sciences

2nd lecture
75 years of the Basic Law: Do we need a new constitution?

Article 146 of the Basic Law states that the Basic Law loses its validity on the day on which a constitution comes into force that has been freely adopted by the German people. The Basic Law itself therefore allows for a new constitution. Markus Möller, President of the Brandenburg State Constitutional Court, will discuss the question of whether Germany needs a new constitution against the backdrop of various far-reaching processes of change, such as Europeanization and globalization, digitalization and artificial intelligence or decarbonization and climate change, or whether the existing model can continue to provide a basis for our coexistence for the next 75 years.
Officer: Markus Möller, President of the Brandenburg State Constitutional Court

Moderation: Prof. Dr. Eike Albrecht, BTU, Chair of Public Law, in particular Environmental and Planning Law (with Chair of Civil Law)

Date: Wednesday, June 5, 2024, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Location: Audimax 1 at the main campus of BTU, Konrad-Wachsmann-Allee 3, 03046 Cottbus
