Workshop for counsellors - initial counselling for people affected by SBDG

In cases of sexualised discrimination, harassment and violence (SBDG), bullying or stalking, initial counselling is an important element for those affected in order to classify and deal with what they have experienced. Counsellors have a very important role to play here, which will be examined and trained from various angles in this workshop.

Not only are the often high content-related expectations (e.g. legal handling and consequences of discrimination) placed on counsellors reflected upon, but also their own motivation and attitude as a counsellor. In addition, the workshop will introduce techniques for conducting conversations, e.g. questioning and listening techniques, which are essential components of counselling sessions, and practise them using practical examples. A look will also be taken at the emotional aftercare of counsellors to ensure that counselling sessions remain safe - for both those seeking advice and those providing it.

The event is part of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg Equal Opportunities Office's awareness-raising measures for dealing with sexualised harassment, discrimination and violence at universities.
