Panel discussion "Lusatian energies - landscape, art, culture"

Interested parties are cordially invited to the event as part of the exhibition "70 Years of Art in Architecture in Germany" at the Information, Communication and Media Centre (IKMZ) of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

What future potential lies in Lusatia's energy heritage?

What material traces of the energy transformations can and should we see?

How can we use the cultural heritage to shape structural change?

Dr Carola Neugebauer, Head of the Competence Centre for Urban and Regional Development at the Federal Institute for Building, Urban and Regional Planning (BBSR), and her panel guests will explore these and other questions on Thursday, 7 November 2024 at the IKMZ at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

Together with Dr Christine Onnen (Brandenburg State Office for Architectural Conservation and Archaeological State Museum), Dr Lars Scharnholz (Institute for New Industrial Culture) and Claudia Muntschick (Creative Saxony), Lusatia will be viewed and discussed as a multi-layered energy region from the different perspectives of the panel guests.

The travelling exhibition "70 Years of Art in Architecture in Germany", which after a three-year journey through the Federal Republic of Germany will be at its last location for the time being in Cottbus from 18 October to 26 November 2024, will provide the framework for the panel discussion. To mark its current location, the exhibition has been supplemented by a local chapter on building-related art in Cottbus. The contributions for the Cottbus chapter were compiled by Prof. Dr Sylvia Claus, Professor of History of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Urban Planning at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, and her students in collaboration with the Sorbian Institute.

The Competence Centre for Regional Development of the BBSR cordially invites you to attend. Admission is free of charge.
