According to the Federal Criminal Police Office's criminal statistics on intimate partner violence, 132,966 women were affected by intimate partner violence in 2023. The number of recorded victims has risen by 17.5% in the last five years and reached a new high in the current reporting year 2023! The number of unreported cases is much higher. A new study on the dark field of gender-specific violence has been announced for 2025, (LeSuBiA study by BMFSFJ, BMI and BKA).
BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg will be hoisting orange flags at its locations on the main campus, in Sachsendorf and in Senftenberg during the campaign period from the International Day to End Violence against Women on 25 November and Human Rights Day on 10 December . The orange illumination of the IKMZ will be a particularly visible symbol.
The Lord Mayor of Cottbus, Tobias Schick, will also raise the orange flag in front of the town hall at 2.30 pm on this day. The information event will then open in the BlechenCARRÈ at 3 pm. Take the opportunity to be there and set an example against violence yourself!
