The officer is Dr Dirk Marx from the Chair of Public Law, in particular Environmental and Planning Law (with the Civil Law Department) at BTU. Registration is not required.

"It's about creativity and joie de vivre as the basis of curiosity," explains Dr Marx. The aim is to find out together how children experience the university - what they find exciting there and what knowledge and ideas they themselves bring with them. They will also discuss how knowledge and experiences from everyday life fit in with the major topics of science - for example with regard to nature, the environment or industry. The officer builds bridges of thought that the children can build with their imagination and creativity.

The children's university lectures are intended to awaken an interest in solving scientific problems at an early age and give children the opportunity to experience the flair of a university.
BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg thus offers schoolchildren from the third to sixth grades the opportunity to get a taste of university life and teaches them about solutions to everyday scientific phenomena in a child-friendly, exciting way. This encourages formative experiences that awaken the youngest children's interest in science and reduce their inhibitions towards university.

Outlook:
The next Children's University event
will be held on Saturday, 24 May between 2 and 4 p.m. as part of the BTU's varied programme for Open Senftenberg Day, to which interested parties are invited from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Campus Senftenberg. In the course "Nobody is too small to give first aid" , children in Building 6 will learn in a playful way how to recognise emergencies, organise themselves and help themselves. The speakers are academic staff members Marlene Kraske and Nadine Hirche from the Institute of Health at BTU.
