Environmental protection in old age

The role of older people in environmental protection is the topic of a lecture by environmentalist and scientist Prof. Dr Hubert Weiger as part of the lecture series "Alt sein, na so?" (Being old, so what?) on Wednesday, 14 May 2025, from 5.30 p.m. at the main campus of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

Nature is the basis of human life. What influence humans have on the environment and how it can be protected is the topic of the lecture entitled "Being old, so what? - Environmental protection suits every age". Prof. Dr Hubert Weiger will take anyone interested through five decades of environmental protection, explaining his fascination with nature and the key role played by older people.

In a subsequent panel discussion, he will talk to Ulrike Blumensath-Streidt, Managing Director of the Pedagogical Centre for Nature and the Environment in Cottbus, and Annegreth Huth, Head of the PraxisForschungsStelle Heinersdorf, about what people of all ages can contribute to preserving the environment and how this can be combined with education and care work. The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr Maria Reinisch, Managing Director of the Association of German Scientists.

Time: Wednesday, 14 May 2025, 17:30-19:00
