Committed and qualified: BTU student honoured with women's advancement award
Dr Carola Wiesner, representing the prize-giving association, and BTU President Prof. Dr Gesine Grande presented the award on 27 June 2025 as part of the "Kulturcampus Sachsendorf" campus festival at the university's Cottbus-Sachendorf site.
The award winner Ronja Tittel is studying Biotechnology in her sixth programme-related semester at the Faculty Environment and Natural Sciences at BTU. In addition to her good academic performances, she is a role model for many other young women with her diverse voluntary work at the university and beyond.
Her active work on the Biotechnology and Materials Chemistry Student Council since 2023, of which she was deputy chairperson for a year, as well as her leading organisation of the student Christmas market and the first Senftenberg Snowflake Ball, are just two of her many achievements. She demonstrates her great organisational talent and ability to inspire and inspire participants at events, including poetry slams.
Ronja Tittel has been organising youth ceremonies since 2019 as a member of the Märkische Jugendweihe e.V. association, supporting young people and their families on their journey into adulthood. Her achievements have been recognised in several letters of recommendation, for example from the Medical University of Bialystok in Poland, where Ronja Tittel completed her practical semester of study.
"Special attention is paid to visualising and improving the situation of women in society. Ronja is a former MINT scholarship holder and her good achievements make her a worthy candidate," reads the unanimous recommendation of the jury at BTU under the leadership of the Central Equal Opportunities Officer Birgit Hendrischke.
With the decision to honour Ronja Tittel with this year's sponsorship award, the Frauenhilfswerk Cottbus e. V., the sponsor of the award, is following this recommendation. The prize is endowed with 1,000 euros.
