Landscape as a cultural memory space - drawing workshop in Branitz Park

On friday, 18 July, and saturday, 19 July 2025, Cottbus residents and international students from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg are invited to rediscover Branitz Park together at a drawing workshop, to draw, to get to know people and perspectives and to exchange ideas.

The free workshop refers to the design legacy of Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau, who conceived Branitz as a universal place - open to different views of the world, religions and concepts of nature.

Participants in the workshop will explore the visual axes, stories and atmospheres of the historic park and examine its significance for today's urban society both individually and collectively. It is not just about what is visible, but about what everyone brings with them: memories, questions, inner images.

The initiator of the project is the Russian-born artist Ekaterina Orba, who lives in Cottbus/Chóśebuz. Niloofar Soleymani, who is researching how art can bring people from different cultures together as a common language for her master's thesis in World Heritage Studies at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, will provide academic support for the workshop.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge. Details of the programme can be found at www.orba-art.com/branitz.

The number of participants is limited. Registration is possible until 16 July 2025 by email to info(at)orba-art.com or by phone on 0179-4778224.

The project is funded by the Cultural Promotion of the City of Cottbus/Chóśebuz in cooperation with the Fürst-Pückler-Museum Park and Castle Branitz Foundation and the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
