Future Energy Month

How do we live, work and move forward? The Spremberg branch is picking up on the theme of the Science Year 2025 with the motto month "Future Energy" and offering an exciting mix of films, lectures and discussions.

Increasing global demand for energy, limited resources and climate change pose new challenges for politics, industry and business, but also for citizens. From 1 October to 7 November 2025, the Spremberg Presence Centre invites all interested parties to think about the energy supply of tomorrow. The aim of the Presence Centre is to make research tangible, arouse enthusiasm for innovation and involve citizens in the dialogue about the energy of the future. All events are free of charge.

Programme highlights:

To kick things off on Wednesday 1 October, the Spreekino cinema in Spremberg will be transformed into an experimental laboratory:

  • "Physics and Music" with Dr Olaf Gutschker shows how closely science and everyday life are connected. In an entertaining experimental lecture for the whole family, sounds, tones and physical effects are visualised live on stage.

On Thursday, 16 October, you can take a look at the future of energy storage on Campus Senftenberg:

  • Prof. Dr Jörg Acker will open his laboratory and provide insights into the latest research approaches to battery recycling. Participants will learn how valuable raw materials are recovered from old car batteries and what role sustainable storage solutions will play in the energy supply of tomorrow.

The event will conclude with a high-profile discussion on Friday, 7 November, at the Spreekino Spremberg:

  • Rbb24 Inforadio invites you to "Forum - The Debate: Geothermal Energy". Presenter Harald Asel will discuss the opportunities, risks and prospects of this energy source with Christine Herntier (Mayor of Spremberg), Prof. Dr Mario Ragwitz (Fraunhofer IEG) and Prof. Dr Felix Müsgens (BTU/Energy Innovation Centre).
