Networking and exchange at celebratory scholars‘ gathering
Students from countries such as Bangladesh, India, Australia, Iran, Serbia, Cyprus and Nepal gathered in the foyer on the 7th floor of the IKMZ to get to know each other, exchange ideas and network. From World Heritage Studies to Artificial Intelligence and Power Engineering to Environmental and Resource Management or Heritage Conservation and Site Management: the diversity of fields of study and countries of origin once again demonstrated how international and interdisciplinary the BTU is.
After a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Wolfram Berger, Vice President for Internationalisation, two scholarship holders gave personal insights into their everyday student life. They reported on challenges, highlights and their successes.
Taliya Theresa Joseph, a student on the Master's programme in Artificial Intelligence, spoke about her path to the BTU, her cultural and social engagement, and her active role as chair of the AI student council. The scholarship for particularly dedicated students gave her the opportunity to get involved in a variety of ways alongside her studies, such as language tandems and organising cultural events.
Md Sarwar Jahan Talukdar, a student on the Master's programme in Environmental and Resource Management, presented a project on temperature changes in three selected cities in Bangladesh, which he was able to successfully implement thanks to the scholarship for completion of studies.
Afterwards, Ms. Mareike Kunze, Head of the International Relations Office, presented the scholarship certificates to the scholarship holders.
For the scholarship holders, who received their funding on the basis of their particular motivation to start studying, their academic achievements or their social and university involvement, the meeting offered plenty of opportunity for personal discussions, new contacts and exciting prospects.
Every year, the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg awards scholarships to international students as part of various DAAD programmes. Last year alone, 20 students received funding. Further information on the scholarship programmes can be found here.
