Pupil university expedition into the world of artificial intelligence
Interested young people from the seventh to tenth grades are invited to attend the exciting one-hour lecture in the large lecture theatre of the Konrad Zuse Media Centre, Universitätsplatz 1 in 01968 Senftenberg. Registration is not required.
The officer is Dr Svetlana Meissner,
Research associate at the Chair of Wireless Systems at BTU
About the lecture
Anyone who has ever wondered what it would be like to have every answer to every question at their fingertips, who has wished they had a machine that not only delivers facts but is also capable of thinking together, should make a special note of this student university lecture.
Because that's exactly what's happening right now! New AI agents like Gemini are like a compass for the world of knowledge. They can explain complex Physics as if it were an exciting film, or they can help you design your own game concept. In this lecture, the participants of the pupil university go on an expedition into the world of AI. They will learn how these "thought machines" are constructed, what they can already do today and how they will change our future as researchers, artists or developers.
The pupil university
The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg's pupil university offers interested pupils in years seven to ten the opportunity to understand scientific and technical topics. It awakens the desire to discover and research. This gives them the chance to develop their own skills and talents. Together with Sparkasse Niederlausitz, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is offering an attractive new programme in which interested students can work on various projects in small teams and consolidate their knowledge on excursions. The pupil university always takes place on the same topic once in Senftenberg and once in Cottbus. Registration is not required.
Outlook
The pupil university lecture "The thought machine: How to go on a journey of discovery with AI" with Dr Svetlana Meissner can be experienced again on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, from 15:30 to 16:30 in the central lecture hall building on the main campus of the BTU, Audimax 2, Konrad-Wachsmann-Allee 3, in 03046 Cottbus.
