BBIT2026 – Brandenburg Civil Engineering Day at the BTU

On Friday, 17 April 2026, experts from the construction industry and the field of construction research will gather for the 30th time at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg. This year, the symposium will focus on the theme of ‘Geotechnical Engineering under Cyclic and Climatic Loads’. Registrations are open until 16 April 2026.

Cyclic loads and climatic effects are becoming an increasingly important focus in Geotechnical Engineering. Repeating loading can lead to the gradual accumulation of permanent deformations, whilst cycles of drying and wetting—causing fluctuations in groundwater levels and changes in suction stress—give rise to new types of damage and risks for structures, dams and embankments.

Presentations by experts from various universities of technology and the industry will cover a wide range of topics, from fundamental mechanisms and laboratory investigations to special foundations and reinforced earth structures, as well as case studies, simulations and dynamic stability issues in open-cast mining environments. BBIT2026 thus offers a concise overview of current developments and their significance for design, construction and monitoring.
Programme

As part of an exhibition, leading companies will present their products, software and specialist publications in the foyer of the Central Lecture Theatre Building. Before the conference begins and during the breaks, there will be an opportunity to find out about new developments and publications.
