Online course on housing advice launched
Housing advice and home adaptations are underpinned by a shared aim: how can we enable older people and those in need of care to remain in their familiar surroundings? It makes no difference whether the property is rented or owned, a flat or a house. Housing advice is a service in which specialists work together with those seeking advice to find individual solutions to housing problems. It takes into account individual needs, resources and the social environment to enable independent living in old age.
Competent advice requires specialist knowledge, which can be acquired through various training programmes and further education courses. This flexible online course is a programme that provides in-depth and advanced knowledge on various current, selected topics relevant to housing advice, such as technical advice, sustainability, quality assurance, dementia and others. This course therefore addresses topics that go beyond the knowledge taught in established housing advice training programmes, but which can round out the advisor’s understanding and serve to further their professional development. However, attendance at a basic and advanced training course is recommended for working as a housing advisor.
Target audience
The online self-study course is aimed at anyone who provides housing advice on a full-time or voluntary basis, or who wishes to explore the topic of housing for older people.
