Cottbus is a great place to live – for everyone! And let’s keep it that way!

Of the 7,500 students at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), around 45 per cent come from abroad, from some 130 countries around the world. Life amongst the many students is a colourful mix. Friendships are formed, experiences are shared, and people study, cook and celebrate together. The ‘Laut gegen Nazis – Campus Open Air’ (LGN-COA) aims to bring this sense of community and openness to the world to the city and the region. With up to 6,000 guests, the LGN-COA is now one of the largest free events in Lusatia.

Laut gegen Nazis e.V. was founded in 2004 in the heart of St. Pauli and actively opposes the continuing rise of right-wing extremism. The organisation supports initiatives and alliances against the far right in their public relations work, offering ongoing advice and support at local events. From information stands at village festivals to counter-demonstrations at Nazi marches in major cities. Highlights include concerts by well-known artists and bands, which provide direct on-the-ground support for anti-far-right initiatives.
