BTU Welcomes Exchange Students for the 2026/27 Academic Year
This year’s international cohort includes students from countries such as France, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Jordan, Mexico, China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
With their diverse perspectives, experiences, and cultural backgrounds, these exchange students enrich BTU in many ways. They bring fresh ideas to courses and projects, offer their fellow students insights into different higher education systems and cultures, and help make internationality a tangible part of everyday campus life. At the same time, they take back a wealth of impressions from Cottbus, Senftenberg, and the surrounding region to their home countries, becoming important ambassadors for BTU worldwide.
At the start of their stay, the new exchange students attended a joint welcome event to receive essential information regarding their studies. This well-established event format was organized collaboratively by the International Relations Office and the Language Centre. The Language Centre provided details on the extensive range of language courses available at various proficiency levels, offered in both online and in-person formats. Meanwhile, the International Relations Office offered insights into how studies are organized at BTU and highlighted cultural activities in the region, as well as opportunities for travel and networking with other students.
Beyond the informational aspect, the event focused primarily on students getting to know one another. Over pizza, in a relaxed atmosphere, and through entertaining icebreaker games, international students were able to make initial connections, both with one another and with BTU staff.
BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is delighted to welcome this diverse international community and wishes them a successful and rewarding stay in Cottbus and Senftenberg.
