Call for Participation - 3rd Brandenburg Science Slam
In spring 2024, the Brandenburg Science Slam will enter its third round. Be there when science comes to life and research becomes an unforgettable experience for a wide audience! The Science Slam is your stage to present your specialist knowledge in an entertaining and captivating way.
What is a science slam?
The Science Slam is a fascinating form of science communication. Here, scientists have the opportunity to present their research topics and findings in a popular scientific lecture. The aim is to inspire and captivate the audience in just 10 minutes. These exciting presentations do not take place in a traditional scientific setting, but rather in locations such as theaters, pubs or clubs.
2024 - Seven locations, countless possibilities
In spring 2024, the Science Slam will be celebrated at seven different locations in Brandenburg. A special grade: all slammers come from Brandenburg's university and science context. Six researchers from different universities and non-university institutions in the state are expected to compete against each other at each location. At the end, the audience will choose the winner.

Are you a passionate researcher who wants to share your findings with an interested audience? Perhaps you have been working in science for a long time and are looking for new challenges? Or are you passionate about a fascinating topic but still have no idea how to present it in an entertaining way?
All interested (young) scientists and researchers at Brandenburg's universities and non-university research institutions can take part.
No matter where you are, we are looking for you!
We offer:
- The unique opportunity to present your research to a wide audience.
- Support for science slam newcomers: Before the big event, we offer you participation in a "How to Science Slam" workshop, which will provide you with the necessary tools for a successful presentation and preparation for this special evening. The digital workshops will be held by the agency Science & Stories and will take place on the following dates:
- Option 1: 06.03. (part 1) and 13.03. (part 2), both 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Option 2: 23.04. (part 1) and 30.04. (part 2), both 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
10-12 participants can register for each workshop. Register early with your contact person at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg to get a place.
