STAGE FRIGHT LIVE

Every quarter, the Staatstheater Cottbus presents plays for the coming quarter, interesting artists and cross-disciplinary topics relating to our programme in the theatre magazine LAMPENFIEBER kompakt. But because nothing can replace a direct encounter, there is now the new LAMPENFIEBER LIVE!

On Wednesday, 12 February 2025, 7:30 p.m., the topic will be "How can this go on?" All interested parties are cordially invited to the free event at the Kammerbühne Cottbus (Wernerstrasse 60). The event is being held in cooperation with the Centre for Continuing Education (ZWW) at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

Shortly before the election, the question is: How should it all go on? Productions in drama and music theatre examine conditions in society, observe how dynamics arise and are channelled and what drives people when they realise: "Something is rotten in the state ..."

Dramaturgs Franziska Benack and Corinna Jarosch talk to singer Anne Martha Schuitemaker and others about foreignness and marginalisation in KLEIDER MACHEN LEUTE. Director Dominik Wilgenbus talks about how he transforms his indignation about political conditions into satire and the production KEIN SCHÖNER LAND. JUGEND OHNE GOTT looks for new gods and runs blindly into misfortune and, of course, Johannes Scheidweiler also has his say as HAMLET, who deals with dissatisfaction in the state in his own way... For an outside perspective, we have invited Heike Bartholomäus and Eva-Maria König, who are working on the Future Skill Readiness project at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and are investigating which future skills need to be taught to young adults in teaching and research.

About the new event format

On four evenings during the season, we provide insights into the topics that are currently occupying us and offer the opportunity to get to know the people behind the plays, gain initial artistic impressions of the development processes and conception phases and discover the common threads of our programme. In a lively exchange of ideas, the evening can end in a cosy atmosphere or turn into a party. Let us surprise you with what we have prepared for you, our guests. In a relaxed atmosphere, the two Managing Dramaturgs Franziska Benack and Corinna Jarosch will get into conversation with artists and theatre makers.
