"70 years of the Hague Convention - learning from the past and present for the future"
The aim of the conference "70 Years of the Hague Convention - Learning from the Past and Present for the Future" is to reflect on the historical and current significance of the Convention and to develop strategies for protecting cultural heritage in crisis and disaster situations. At the same time, international exchange is to be strengthened and alumni networks intensified.
The event is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as part of the "Alumni Programme for the Further Education and Retention of International Alumni from Industrialised Countries" .
The conference language is English.
The project brings together experts from Germany, Georgia, the United Kingdom, the State of Palestine, Latvia and other countries, as well as alumni from culture-related study programmes at German universities from over ten countries.
The programme includes specialist lectures, panel discussions and excursions that combine the theory and practice of cultural heritage protection. Current case studies from countries such as Palestine and Ukraine will be presented. A special item on the programme is "Heritage GradConnect 2025", which also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Master's programme in World Heritage Studies at the BTU and is led by Dr phil. Britta Rudolff from the field of study Heritage Management.
