No money and no contacts? New Scholarship 2026 has started

Call for Applications for the Award of Scholarships in 2026 by the Stiftung Lausitzer Braunkohle

Do you see your professional future in the Lusatia region? With a scholarship from the Stiftung Lausitzer Braunkohle, we aim to support you on your path.

Our foundation has been active in the region since 2004. We seek to provide young people with perspectives and opportunities for personal and professional development in Lusatia/Upper Lusatia. Since 2010, we have been awarding scholarships, from which around 140 pupils and students have benefited to date.

Does your heart beat for Lusatia?
Then your chances are good, as we particularly support students with a connection to Lusatia/Upper Lusatia and the regional economy in industry and trade.

Technology is in our DNA
Therefore, priority is given to applicants from technical degree programs, especially geosciences and geoengineering, energy economics, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, and environmental engineering.

What we expect from you:
You should demonstrate excellent academic performance, distinguish yourself through university and/or social engagement, and be enrolled at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus–Senftenberg. Your remaining standard period of study should be at least two semesters.

What awaits you:

  • A one-time grant of €6,000 (double funding is excluded)

  • Support in arranging bachelor’s/master’s or diploma thesis topics

  • Assistance in finding suitable internships or professional entry opportunities, as well as access to business networks

Your path to the scholarship:
Please submit your complete and meaningful application documents to the Stiftung Lausitzer Braunkohle by 29 May 2026. The application should include:

  • Cover letter explaining your particular motivation for study in line with this call

  • An overview of your academic and personal development, including extracurricular interests and activities

  • Letter of recommendation from your academic institution (justifying the selection)

  • Transcript of records and certificate of enrollment

After receiving and reviewing the documents, suitable applicants will be invited to a personal 15-minute interview, expected to take place in June 2026. The Foundation Board will make the final decision on the awards.

The scholarships will be presented at a ceremonial event in September 2026.

We look forward to receiving your application!
