FAQ Scholarships of the Lusatian Lignite Foundation
Who can apply?
Eligible applicants are high-achieving students with a connection to the Lusatia region who are enrolled at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus–Senftenberg. Preference is given to students in technical degree programs who demonstrate academic and/or social engagement and whose standard period of study includes at least two remaining semesters.
Which requirements do I have to fulfil?
The Foundation supports students with a connection to the Lusatia region and the regional energy sector. Priority is given to applicants from technical degree programs, in particular geosciences and geoengineering, energy economics, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, and environmental engineering.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Enrollment (summer semester) in a degree program at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus–Senftenberg
At least two semesters remaining within the standard period of study
Excellent academic performance as well as university and/or social engagement

Which documents do I need for my application?
- Covering letter with reasons for the special motivation to study according to the advertisement
- Curriculum vitae, including non-university interests
- Letter of recommendation from the study institution (justification of selection)
- transcript of records and certificate of enrolment

After receipt and review of the documents, suitable applicants will be invited by the Foundation to a personal interview.
What kind of funding do I receive?
- A one-time grant of €6,000 (double funding is excluded) and support in arranging bachelor’s or master’s thesis topics, as well as
- assistance in finding suitable internships or professional entry opportunities and access to business networks.
