The main partners in the Waste2Wealth project are BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the Institute for Resource Management inter3(https://www.inter3.de/). The project is coordinated by Dr Ali Asghar Besalatpour. The key player and target partner on site is the Georgian Forest Association (GFA; https://gfa.org.ge/?lang=en).

GFA

The Georgian Farmers' Association is a non-profit umbrella organisation for agriculture in Georgia, founded in 2012. It brings together around 4,000 members, including individual farmers, cooperatives and local associations.

Its main tasks include:

  • Advocacy and lobbying: the GFA acts as the voice of farmers to government, private partners and donors.

  • Capacity building and training: Workshops, training, advice and market analyses help members to develop their agribusiness skills.

  • Networking and market mediation: The GFA supports digital visibility, price comparisons, direct marketing and job placement via platforms such as Agronavti.ge, Agrojobs.ge and Agromap.ge.

The GFA also funds social responsibility (CSR), supports disadvantaged groups (women, people with disabilities, ex-prisoners) and works with international organisations such as the World Farmers' Organisation and development agencies. As part of the Waste2Wealth project, the GFA acts as a target actor on site and as a mediator for Georgian stakeholders as part of a third-party funding contract.

inter3

inter 3 GmbH is a German support and consultancy organisation that specialises in translating scientific findings into practical applications - with the guiding principle "Making science effective". Core areas and focal points are

  • Environment & Water: Advising GIZ and BMUV on export initiatives, water management and municipal water partnerships.

  • Science communication & urban development: projects such as the RegioVers model for community catering, microplastic avoidance or participation processes in urban formats.

  • Energy & Infrastructure: Concepts for flexible supply structures and climate-resilient infrastructure, such as technology transfer processes in energy, water and wastewater (e.g. FLEXITILITY).

inter 3 combines social research, stakeholder participation and digital formats to make knowledge tangible (e.g. action workshops, digital learning houses), to make project results visible for politics, business and society, and to provide practical support for transformations such as climate adaptation or the energy transition. inter 3 often works with institutional clients such as theFederal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUV) and GIZ, often in cooperation with universities, research institutes (e.g. Fraunhofer), international NGOs and local partners.
