3D Printing and Prototyping: From Concept to Physical Model (Startup Week Germany)
Thursday, Nov. 16 (5-8 p.m.)
COLab* in Startblock B2, Cottbus
free of charge
! the workshop is being held in german !
Whether making toys or prototypes - what used to require a vast amount of raw materials as well as industrial equipment, today all you need is a filament roll and a 3D printer at home. In this workshop, two startup founders and 3D printing experts, Serghei and Yannic (SCYtech), will show you how to use it properly.
In this exciting workshop, we will dive deep into the world of modern prototyping. The dialogue workshop will provide an interactive learning experience to explore the steps of prototyping through the 3D printing process.
How does the workshop work?
In this workshop, we will explain how you can turn ideas into physical, tangible prototypes. The workshop will include the following key topics:
- Overview of how 3D printing works and its importance in prototyping,
- 3D printing process and materials selection,
- 3D printing-friendly design,
- Introduction to the FDM 3D printer and print preparation software,
- Live demonstration: from digital model to physical prototype,
- Hands-on exercise: creating a simple concept using CAD software.
Finally, you can print a small project to take home.
Who is this workshop for?
The workshop is suitable for beginners who want to learn the basics of 3D printing (design - slice - print). Children from 12 years of age may participate together with an adult accompanying person. Families and children with their companions are kindly requested to register together for one place.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring a laptop with Autodesk Fusion360 software. You can find tips on how to install it for free here. If you don't have a laptop available, you can reserve a workshop computer. But be aware, there are only a limited number of laptops available. Just send an email to colab@b-tu.de.
Will the workshop cost me anything?
The workshop is free of charge.
How can I register?
