"How age-friendly is your community?"
Runtime
2017 until 2020
Summary of the project results
The goal of the "Living and Housing in Old Age" project, which was sponsored by the associations of long-term care insurance funds in the state of Brandenburg and by the Elbe-Elster district, was to create age-friendly communities in the Elbe-Elster district. Age-friendliness for rural communities means creating structures for older people in such a way that they can remain in their familiar surroundings for as long as possible and their independence is promoted. As part of the successfully completed project, strengths and weaknesses of selected rural regions were surveyed and concepts for measures and care were developed on this basis. A variety of measures have already been successfully implemented in the communities, and some will follow in the coming years. A special survey instrument/questionnaire was developed by the Department of Nursing Science and Clinical Nursing of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, scientifically tested and applied in various communities. Specifically included were the office Schlieben, the small towns Falkenberg and Schönewalde and even the district town Herzberg with numerous districts.
