Welcome to the website of the department Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering / Geotechnical Engineering at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus - Senftenberg. On these sites you will find some information about the department, its employees, teaching and research.

This department was founded in 1992 after the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus was reestablished. The students are led up to the tasks of civil engineering by an instruction close to state-of-the-art practice. 

The Department is equipped with an efficient laboratory with a sand-filled basin in the size of 7  x 4  x 4 m, were real scale tests are conducted. The cooperating section Geotechnic of the FMPA Institute carries out initial suitability tests for anchors, test loadings on piles and tension tests on soil nails as authorisedsurveyor.
