International start of studies in the summer semester 2023
At the beginning of April, the team of the Welcome and Registration Point of the International Relations Office had already assisted more than 220 international first-year students with their enrolment for the summer semester 2023 and their arrival in Cottbus and Senftenberg.
The international applicants from 49 countries were accompanied by a variety of orientation and support measures on their way to becoming part of the BTU family. This included target group-specific recruitment measures, detailed information on the application process and online formats to prepare for studying in Germany. Through the digital Onboarding Info Sessions, the international target group was able to gain a first impression of the BTU from home and thus build a bond with their alma mater in order to successfully start their studies after arriving in Germany. Over 200 applicants took part in this format in preparation for the summer semester.
The services are complemented by the Welcome and Registration Point, which is firmly established at the BTU as the first point of contact for all international students and provides support and advice on all topics relating to studying and living in Cottbus and Senftenberg.
Experienced international support staff serve as contact persons at the Welcome and Registration Point who can help the peer group authentically and at eye level. In order to fill the Welcome Point with life again after the Corona pandemic, the International Relations Office, together with the support staff, has introduced new elements that make the welcome culture at the BTU tangible from the very beginning - such as a photo booth with a “BTU Zuckertüte” or a study oracle that encourages people to play along.
As an additional offer, Data & Cookie Sessions on BTU services and study-related topics are organized every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 pm. International first-year students are cordially invited to participate in the upcoming Data & Cookie Sessions on the following topics
