Alice Salomon Award for Heike Radvan

The educational science and social-pedagogy scholar was awarded by ASH Berlin for her involvement against right-wing extremism, antisemitism and antifeminism on January 11, 2020.

The prize in the amount of 6000 € was awarded on 11 January 2020 by the Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin. The award is given to personalities whose work has made remarkable contributions to the emancipation of women and the academic development of the field of Social Work, thereby carrying forward the work of Alice Salomon.

In research, teaching and practice: A holistic approach against hate

Heike Radvan was born on the island of Rügen in 1974 and studied Social Work at ASH Berlin. After her studies, she worked at Amadeu Antonio Foundation for 15 years, where she created an exhibition about anti-semitism in the GDR. She also created the "Fachstelle Genderund Rechtsextremismus", a special unit at Amadeu Antonio Stiftung that was concerned with the role of women in the right-wing extremist scene. Her most current publication carries the title "Rechtsextreme Frauen - Analysen und Handlungsempfehlungen für die Soziale Arbeit und Pädagogik"

Courageous, innovative and involved

The jury acknowledged Heike Radvan as "an extraordinarily involved, courageous and innovative researcher". Through her work, she is carrying the discipline of Social Work forward in a special way - "She does not shy away from social conflicts, but relates them in a remarkable and effective way to the field of Social Work. She reflects on the transferability of experiences on the highest scientific level"
