BTU Advent calendar: Door 8
How do we celebrate Christmas?
My name is Said Kessai, I am 31 years old and my parents are originally from Iraq. I am studying civil engineering for my master's degree at BTU. I spend Christmas with my wife. Although we are both Muslims, we have adopted some Christmas customs. We decorate the flat and make each other an Advent calendar. Just before Christmas Eve we bake delicious biscuits and listen to Christmas music and in the evening we watch a nice Christmas movie.
Hello and greetings to all of you, my name is Mohammad Mustafa, I come from Jordan and study business administration at BTU. Many people think that there is no place for Christianity in the Islamic world. That is not true. In Jordan, Christians and Muslims celebrate side by side, and there are many cities in Jordan where Christmas trees are planted and ceremonies are held. "Eid Majeed" is the word that means "Merry Christmas".
I am Bachir Moulayess, 25 years old, and I come from Syria. I have been studying medical informatics at the BTU for two years. Christmas is a special day for many families. People give each other presents and spend a wonderful time together. Unfortunately I don't have a family here but I'm looking forward to the future where I can celebrate Christmas with my future family.
Of course, other interested students can also join us. In the project we would like to realise many small events, such as excursions, discussion groups and so on. In doing so, we want to respond to the wishes and ideas of the participants. If you are interested or have ideas, you are very welcome to join us. Please contact us at info4refugees(at)b-tu.de.
Merry Christmas and stay healthy!
