Lecture series "Refugee Migration - Basics and Current Challenges".

In the first lecture of the event series, Dr. Stefanie Kaygusuz-Schurmann will focus on refugee policy in Brandenburg.

Since 2017, the Geflüchteten Netzwerk Cottbus (GNC) and the BTU Department of "Sociology for Social Work" have been cultivating critical conversations on issues of flight and migration, racism and diversity, empowerment and self-determination. In the summer semester of 2022, they jointly invite you for the first time to an interdisciplinary lecture series:

Refugee Migration - Foundations and Current Challenges.

The first lecture of the series is dedicated to refugee policy in Brandenburg.

Due to her work as head of the department "Education and Integration" of the city of Cottbus, Dr. Stefanie Kaygusuz-Schurmann knows the situation in Brandenburg very well.

We will also have the opportunity this evening to learn more about refugee policy in Cottbus. Ms. Kaygusuz-Schurmann has been following the developments in the city since the short summer of welcome culture in 2015 and is also involved in the current task of initial reception of protection seekers from Ukraine. She has initiated a number of projects in the field of "education and integration" and has a very good overview of the city's activities in these areas.
