Getting into university made easy - with a MINT women's scholarship

Young women who are interested in science and technology and would like to pursue their passion in a degree program now have a chance to win a scholarship from the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) created especially for them.

With the new MINT Women's Scholarship, the BTU wants to motivate more female prospective students to pursue a career in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT) and to inspire them to study.

The scholarship holders will receive a monthly grant of 250 euros over two semesters. In addition, they will be accompanied and advised by the BTU's MINT ambassadors, especially during the initial phase of their studies.

The scholarship is aimed at prospective students who are applying for a Bachelor's degree at the BTU. The scholarships are awarded for studies in the following STEM fields: Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Medical Informatics, Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence Technology, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental and Resource Management, Land Use and Water Management, Materials Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Energy Technology and Energy Management, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Technology and Industrial Engineering.

Birgit Hendrischke, the BTU's Central Equal Opportunity Officer and initiator of these scholarships, emphasizes, "With this, we at the BTU are sending a clear signal of how important it is to us to recruit female students, especially for the natural science and engineering subjects - our scholarship is a nice incentive to study in the STEM fields." Particularly with regard to the encouragement of such a study decision by parents, she emphasizes, "With studies at the BTU, with our MINT scholarship and good mentoring, girls and young women receive great support and the best mentoring. After graduation, the future holds exciting career prospects especially for these female graduates."

Required: a letter of motivation of no more than two pages or a short clip of up to three minutes in which the applicant explains why she would like to study in a STEM subject, a current CV and university entrance qualification. Optional letters of recommendation from teachers in STEM subjects and evidence of extracurricular involvement or active participation in interdisciplinary projects or volunteer work can be added.

Update: Interested women can apply for the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg's MINT Women's Scholarship until August 31, 2022, and send their documents by e-mail to the address mint-botschafter(at)b-tu.de.

The scholarship will be paid after successful enrollment.
