#zukunft - This is the motto of this year's night of creative minds

The Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) invites all interested parties to a journey into the future on Saturday, October 15, 2022, starting at 6 pm. The meeting point will be the university's central campus in Cottbus with more than 20 offers to marvel, learn and touch.

Prof. Dr. Michael Hübner, the BTU's full-time Vice President for Research and Transfer, emphasizes: "The annual participation in the Night of Creative Minds has long been an integral part of our university's event program. This year's theme of the future in particular offers us and our cooperation partners the opportunity to provide particularly vivid information about current research on the pulse of time or new technologies, to demonstrate visions and to interact with numerous visitors. We look forward to welcoming guests of all ages who enjoy discovering and participating."

For the Night of Creative Minds, the university's Central Lecture Hall Building will be transformed into a place of the future, where many exciting topics will be presented. In the foyer, in the lecture halls, in the seminar rooms, all doors are open. There is something worth knowing for young and old. In addition, the Information, Communication and Media Center (IKMZ) invites visitors on a journey to the Science Gallery with a light show and Star Trek design. On the forum in front of the Central Lecture Hall Building, Siemens AG will demonstrate its eHighway, which combines the efficiency of electrified rail lines with the flexibility of trucks.

As a technology of the future, T-Cell, an energy converter of the future, will be presented in the auditorium building. The mini power plant, which can take the form of an advertising pillar, among other things, is so unlike a conventional power plant and enables an environmentally friendly and reliable energy supply.

Once again, the Night of Creative Minds on the BTU's central campus will be an experience for the whole family. Younger and older children can put their knowledge to the test with the re:constuction game and simply save the world by answering tricky questions in the hands-on program. Those interested can find out what living on the water feels like and what the prospects are for when the sea level rises due to climate change in a lecture by the Department of Building Physics and Building Technology. A virtual visit to the ISS is also on the agenda. The student laboratory of the German Aerospace Center invites you to fly along.

Curious visitors can test for themselves what everyday life will look like in the future and which visions and scenarios will determine our daily routine with LEGO Serious Play. With VR goggles, visitors can try out whether and how it will be possible to be in two places at the same time. A drone workshop offers an opportunity to familiarize oneself with the programming of these popular flying objects. Those who know how it works can immerse themselves, like Lilliput, in the micro world of the future, where swarms of drones are used in agriculture and machines are monitored with ultrasonic sensors.

These are just a few examples that show how colorful and diverse the program at the BTU is again this year. Whether to marvel at and touch, to try out or to taste with the creative soups.

For those who are still thirsty for knowledge after all these impressions, the creative workshops of the BTU-COLab in the Start-up Center Startblock B2 offer the right machine tool for every idea to build a new prototype. Located across from the campus, Startblock B2 is just a few steps away.

Background For the 14th time, the university and 20 other Cottbus locations are opening their doors to young and old as part of the Night of Creative Minds, which this year is entitled "Future". At the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, scientists, students and cooperation partners of the university will participate with experiments, hands-on and advisory offers, demonstrations, workshops, presentations, lectures and an exhibition, including numerous offers for the whole family. All venues of the Night of Creative Minds including the program, ticket prices and further information can be found at: www.ndkk.de.
