Guest Lecture Prof. Dr. Dr. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber (PIK) "The Reconstruction of the Future".

Climate researcher Professor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber will present the potential of using organic materials such as wood or bamboo to combat the climate crisis, as well as approaches of the "Bauhaus der Erde" initiative.

Climate researcher Prof. Dr. Dr. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber is Director Emeritus of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), co-founder of the "Bauhaus of the Earth" and member of the New European Bauhaus High-level roundtable. Following the Bauhaus movement of the 20th century, the "Bauhaus of the Earth" chooses a holistic approach. It aims to initiate a broad social discourse that will generate a new vision of the built environment. The task is to implement this vision, which should be guided by the concepts of sustainability, participation and aesthetics, in the coming decades.

Schellnhuber has been working intensively on the transformation of the built environment since 2019 and will present, among other things, the potential of wooden buildings as carbon sinks and Initiative the "Bauhaus of the Earth."
