A warm welcome for the students in Senftenberg

Numerous students of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg experienced a rousing start of the semester in the new stage Senftenberg on October 19, 2022.

The theater hall was well filled with freshmen and senior students, professors, employees, and guests of honor who had accepted the invitation to get to know each other and celebrate. The new stage and the BTU revived a long-standing tradition and set new accents. They were supported by the city of Senftenberg and the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz.

BTU President Prof. Dr. Gesine Grande congratulated the students on their decision to choose the BTU and Senftenberg as their location. "This was the best choice you could have made," said the president, who was pleased about rising student numbers and asked two dedicated students to come to the lectern.

Laura Winkler and Willi Thomas from Biotechnology welcomed the new students, offered support and whetted their appetite for joint events, such as the student Christmas market on December 13 and 14.

The students were warmly welcomed by the new director of the theater Daniel Ris and his ensemble with a furious program.

The head of the department for health, youth and social affairs of the district Oberspreewald-Lausitz Alexander Erbert and the mayor of the city Senftenberg Andreas Fredrich referred in their greetings among other things to attractive leisure activities in the region and the city, but also already to opportunities for career entry after graduation.

Intendant Daniel Ris presented with the "young choice subscription" a special offer for young people and naturally also students, which makes the attendance possible of five conceptions for the unbeatable favorable price of 25 euro.

With musical and comedic samples - from the Hildegard Knef evening to the musical "Cabaret" - because finally there is to be musical theater in Senftenberg again - actors*innen of the new stage inspired their guests.

Three formats developed by the ensemble itself to involve the audience, such as the "Wunschkonzert," the "Dämmerschoppen - Die Zugabe," and the "nightBühne," were particularly well received and caused merriment. The artists demonstrated their extraordinary talent for improvisation.

Melanie Goersch from the BTU's therapeutic sciences department was pleased that many other students had accepted her invitation to the theater. She especially liked how the impulses from the audience were implemented by the actors* on stage.

"It was just fantastic," said her young fellow student Mark Vogel - now inspired to definitely take up offers from the new stage.

"Above all, it was a very nice start to the semester," said Vanessa Sophie Thiele, who is studying biotechnology in Senftenberg.

The students carried the cheerful mood to the subsequent party in the studio stage and the theater's new bar. Here the successful evening ended with free beer and snacks - provided with the support of the city of Senftenberg and the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz. DJ Leon Haller, actor at the new stage, provided the good sound.
