Reconstructing the Future - Public guest lecture by renowned climate researcher Prof. Dr. Dr. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber

The sustainable transformation of our built environment and the potential of using organic materials such as wood or bamboo to combat the climate crisis are the topics of a lecture by climate researcher Hans Joachim Schellnhuber

Through the construction, use and deconstruction of buildings, the construction sector is a significant driver of climate change. The global substitution of reinforced concrete with organic building materials such as wood or bamboo could avoid significant amounts of climate-damaging emissions. Against this backdrop, Prof. Schellnhuber founded Bauhaus der Erde gGmbH together with architect Annette Hillebrandt and around 20 other personalities. In his lecture, the scientist will explain how the initiative is sustainably transforming the built environment. Following the Bauhaus movement of the 20th century, the initiative chooses a holistic approach that aims to initiate a broad social discourse and bring about a new vision of the built environment.

Date: Wednesday, November 9, 2022, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Venue: Audimax 2, Central Lecture Hall Building (ZHG), Central Campus, Konrad-Wachsmann-Allee 3, 03046 Cottbus All interested parties are cordially invited. The event is free of charge. From 19 o'clock already a get-together with beverage sales by the student council architecture takes place before the Audimax 2.
