Students invite to the Christmas market on the Senftenberg BTU campus

Just like all university employees, interested people from the region will again have the opportunity to be enchanted by the Christmas flair on the Senftenberg campus of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 13 and 14, 2022, between 4 and 10 pm.

For the ninth student Christmas market since 2012, the BTU students welcome their guests with free admission in the area of the Konrad Zuse Media Center. In ten Christmas huts - provided by the city of Senftenberg and festively decorated by the operators - they will find both hearty and sweet treats as well as small gift ideas.

In addition, the students - first and foremost the members of the Student Council Biotechnology-Chemistry, who organize the Christmas market with the support of the Student Councils of Midwifery Science and Therapy Sciences - provide a colorful and varied entertainment program for young and old.

Thus, the student councils open the Christmas market on Tuesday, December 13, around 4 p.m. with musical accompaniment from the Senftenberg theater new stage, followed by a piano performance from the music school of the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz. Visitors can also look forward to a rousing performance by the budding therapy scientists from the university's Rock'n Roll sports course, the joint Christmas caroling, and a cookie eating contest. Around 7 p.m., a small Christmas ensemble of students will bring the program to a close.

On Wednesday, December 14, a Christmas fairy tale will be read at 4:30 p.m. to kick off the program, and Santa Claus is expected to arrive. Among other things, a renewed appearance of the university dance group, the fashion show of Cottbus fashion designer Anna Sparkles and another musical performance of the student ensemble are planned. The entertainment program will conclude with a quiz in which student teams of up to eight participants can compete for a prize.

The student Christmas market itself, however, will not end until around 10 p.m., as it did the night before. "Everyone is invited, whether studying, working or resident," emphasizes Willi Thomas of the organizing team. "We would be very pleased!"

On Wednesday, December 14, BTU members will have the opportunity to take a free shuttle bus from the Cottbus locations to the student Christmas market on the Senftenberg campus.
In order to register the number of passengers, an informal registration for the transfer is requested to the address Jween.Mohammad(at)b-tu.de.
