KI@MINT with Polish engineering students

Students from Zielona Góra visited BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg on December 13, 2022 and participated in an AI workshop. In addition, the delivery Cyber-Physical Factory was a highlight of the day.

December 13, 2022 was an eventful day at the Department of Automation Technology at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg: The department welcomed student guests from Zielona Góra for an AI workshop "by engineers for engineers". At the same time, a new technical facility was delivered, the Cyber-Physical Factory.

As part of a specially designed AI workshop, 14 students and their teacher Dr inż. Małgorzata Śliwaon of the University of Zielona Góra came to the BTU. The one-day program focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning. The aim was to provide students with basic knowledge of AI as well as related industrial applications. The first event of this kind to date was so well received by the participants that consideration is being given to repeating similar meetings and exchanges on a regular basis. The hosts at the Department of Automation Technology were the academic staff members of the KI@MINT project Jacob Böhnke and Martin Lautsch.

About the Cyber-Physical Factory Also on December 13, 2022, the CP Factory was delivered by the manufacturer FESTO. The Cyber-Physical Factory maps the new developments in networked production of Industry 4.0. The plant is equipped with modern sensor and computing technology. It can be used to produce cell phone dummies, which will be used in the future for innovative teaching on the subject of automation and AI. It will enable students to gain "hands on" experience on topics related to Industry 4.0 and machine learning.
