The events - theater premiere of the neue Bühne Senftenberg at the BTU

The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the theater neue Bühne are deepening their cooperation. On Saturday, April 1, 2023, the play "The Events" by David Greig will be performed at the Senftenberg campus. Further dates at the BTU will follow this premiere.

Music has the power to bring people together and connect them. Pastor Claire is convinced of this. She leads a "choir of understanding" in which people from different social classes and countries of origin meet to share their passion for singing. A violent attack haunts the group, leaving Claire traumatized as the sole survivor. Her attempt to return to a regular life after the events is unsuccessful. Because the question of why keeps catching up with her. During a choir rehearsal, Claire relives her search for answers to the crime with a politician, a therapist and finally with the assassin. Desperately, she vacillates between grief, a desire for reconciliation, and a longing to live happily ever after.

Scottish author David Greig wrote "The Events" in response to Anders Breivik's 2011 rampage in Norway. Sensitive and hopeful, the story deals with the effects of terrorism on society.
This production is produced in cooperation with the Konzertchor Senftenberg e.V.
